New FPV 6061 Hexacopter Project
Ready For Some Night Flights
We get asked about the FPV gear we commonly use so the Project pages are here to share this info.
The Basics
1. Our most used Transmitter is the Futaba 9c with a 2.4GHz Spektrum module and WiFi booster.
2. The standard 900MHz 500mw and 800mw wireless video TX.
3. Basic 900MHz receiver with whip or patch antenna....but most often the whip for low level heli flights.
4. Since we commonly fly Helicopters a 10" monitor is used . No Panning, just Tilting with panning done by heli and pilot.
5. Video Goggles: Fat Sharks with resolution 640X480. This is the lowest res. acceptable for reading OSD's.
6. For planes we use a Futaba 9c w/ WiFi booster /Spektrum module with Head-Tracking along with video goggles. Though we use HT's most planes we fly have the basics with panning only controlled by the rudder stick movement.
7. Radio RX used are Spektrum AR7000, AR8000 and AR9000 series. FPVpilot.com does not recommend the short range RX's like AR6100/5100 park flier series as they don't have enough range for FPV and range becomes much less when wireless video system is added to aircraft.
8. Most of the gear we use comes from vendors like HobbyKing.com
