FPV Traxxas Slash Project

I spent a good part of my career racing full size off-road trucks in the desert and stadium series but after 14 years, 7 championships and starting a family with 2 kids I hung up the driving duties to focus on more important things but after a few years I had the itch again. This time it would be more for fun and would be FPV RC.
FPV driving in some ways is a lot like the real thing but without the expensive cost and beating up your kidneys. All it takes is a well built RC truck and a wireless video system....even cheapy systems on eBay work well because long range isn't an issue (if racing on a track) and 300 feet is good. Also with a low cost system you won't need a HAM radio lic. like with longer range high power system so this makes it even better for newbies.
So my dog has ruin the backyard by digging, etc and I saw a chance to build a backyard track and I took it. By building my track it also gives me a place to test my aircraft FPV systems...even on windy days :).
For my FPV off road race truck I choose the Traxxas Slash. Although the Slash isn't the fastest RC truck it is one of...if not the strongest SC truck and can take a beating. This is a must because I don't need or want to spend much of my hobby dollars on repairs and parts.

The 4X Slash is fun as a FPV Truck.
