6061 Tricopters
The 6061Tricopter frames are light weight (under 8oz/260 grams) and will be great for the Professional or Do-it-Yourself RC pilot that demands performance as will as a good looking aircraft. You can add your own electronics/gear or you may already have a Tricopter
made from lessor material and want to swap the gear to a better,
stronger airframe. For those that just want to get flying we
also have available a
complete ARF 6061 Tricopter,. Our 6061 Tricopter frames are Light Weight, Strong and Very Crash Forgiving and are based on (Bob) SignGuy's Tricopter design at RCgroups.com making it easy to change over electronics from already built up tricopters.
The 6061Tricopter frame has Bushing Isolated Aluminum Boom arms which are designed with Aerial Photography (AP) and FPV piloting in mind and there much stronger then using weaker RC Heli booms or wood that some tricopters may use. Because the Tricopter booms are rubber bushing
isolated much less vibration is being transmitted to the main frame giving better results which is ideal for use with HD cameras.
This is also an added benefit for the electronics, AP/FPV cameras and other gear
that is typically mount on the frame. The Left and Right booms can easily be folded back parallel with the tail boom making it easier for transportation. There is other options to go along with the 6061 Tricopter like Landing gear, Extended battery tray, GoPro HD/Point and Shoot camera tilt mount, etc....
So why not use Fiberglass, G-10, Wood
or Carbon Fiber? although these materials are good, strong and light they lack the
ability to with stand a crash as well as aluminum when used as a frame....and if aluminum is bent, it can
just be flatten back out so your good to fly again without having to wait or make parts. If adding holes are
needed to mount cameras, etc...aluminum is still going to be strong where the other
materials become weaker and even can splinter and/or separate the
laminated layers making them weak unless you use a special drill bit. Even then it can be a problem, if you have ever drilled a hole in
CF, G10, fiberglass, etc.....then you know what we mean :).
The 6061 top frame plate has 6 large Dimple Died holes just like those used on full size aircraft and race cars. This type of hole gives even better strength and rigidness along with making the plate lighter weight.
Because the 6061 Tricopter is made from strong light weight aircraft aluminum
it can take the stress of RC flying better then most other materials not to mention it looks sexy on the ground or flying overhead. (Video at bottom of page)

Light weight at 8oz/254 grams and Strong 6061 Tricopter Frame.
Hand Sanded to a Smooth finish so no sharp edges and looks Great!.
Shown with Optional Extended battery tray (BT-450)
allows a 450 class heli canopy to fit with it. Boom arm lengths available:12", 15", 18" and 21"

Bushing isolated booms provide better vibration dampening and allow Tricopter to
better absorb impacts and also makes for cleaner video or photo platform.

Complete bare frame with yaw mount and optional battery tray is under 290 grams and 305 grams with landing gear.
The 3 large Dimple Died holes (now 6 even lighter/stronger) add more strength along with making it lighter weight.

AVM-100S/AVM-100TL standard and tilting FPV Anti-Vibe Camera mounts will bolt right on.
No drilling needed.
These will also bolt onto any frame with a small available flat surface.
6061 Tricopter with GoPro HD Camera mount AVM-100GP Point & Shoot Camera mounted on AVM-100GP
The AVM-100 mounts can also be flipped and installed on top of the frame if ground clearance is limited.

Simple, Strong and Light Weight Servo and Yaw Mount.
Yaw Mount is designed so it won't break but bend in a crash so just straighten, check operation and fly.
Wires can be easily hid inside the booms channel.

Optional Landing Skids add good looks along with giving the 6061 Tricopter higher ground clearance.
Great for under slung camera set ups.

6061 Tricopter shown with optional 18" booms.

Tricopters are easy to fly compared to a standard CP RC helicopters. They fly like a Co-ax beginner helicopter but with greater
control. They are best compared to a fixed pitched helicopter like a Honey Bee, etc....Handle much heavier payloads.
